As the mystery deepens in the Mukesh Ambani car bomb case, on Tuesday, two policemen from the Crime Intelligence Unit were transferred. They were close confidantes of suspended Mumbai Police officer Sachin Vaze.
Assistant Police Inspector Riyazuddin Qazi and Assistant Police Inspector Prakash Hoval are the two officers. They were both Sachin Vaze’s subordinates.
According to Mumbai Police, Riyazuddin Qazi has been assigned to the local weapons unit, while Prakash Hoval has been assigned to the Malabar Hill police station.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has apparently questioned both of them several times in connection with the Antilia bomb scare case. An explosives-laden SUV was discovered parked near industrialist Mukesh Ambani’s Mumbai home Antilia on February 25. The explosives were made up of 20 unassembled gelatin sticks. In addition, police discovered a threat letter addressed to the Ambanis.
As the inquiry into this case began, police discovered that the SUV in question was owned by a Thane-based businessman named Mansukh Hiren. When asked about the SUV, Mansukh Hiren told officers that it had been stolen and that he had filed a police report.
Mansukh Hiren, on the other hand, was found dead on the banks of a lake in Mumbra, on the outskirts of Thane, on March 5.
His wife claims he was shot by Sachin Vaze, who was investigating the Antilia bomb scare. Sachin Vaze’s participation in staging the bomb scare outside Mukesh Ambani’s home has also come under scrutiny.
Devendra Fadnavis, Leader of the Opposition and former Chief Minister of Maharashtra, raised these questions in the Maharashtra Assembly, revealing that Sachin Vaze had been in constant contact with Mansukh Hiren. API Riyazuddin Qazi and API Prakash Hoval aren’t the only officers who’ve been moved. The Mumbai Police Department’s crime branch has undergone significant reorganization.
Over 28 police inspectors, mostly in charge of units, 16 APIs (in charge of detection work), and 19 other officers have been moved from the crime branch to police stations, local weapons, and special branch, among other places.
