Veteran BJP leader and Former Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley was on Friday admitted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) after complaining of breathing problems. Currently, he is in the Intensive care unit where a multidisciplinary team of doctors are attending on him. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Health Minister Harsh Vardhan had rushed to the hospital to see the ailing leader of BJP.
“Arun Jaitley was admitted to AIIMS today morning. He is currently undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit under the supervision of a multidisciplinary team of doctors. At present, he is haemodynamically stable’’ said the doctors at the AIIMS. Earlier, this year, he underwent kidney transplantation from AIIMS and had to visit United States for further treatment.

Arun Jaitley, 66, served as finance minister in Prime Minister Narendra Modi government’s first term between 20014-19. Earlier this year, he flew to the US for further treatment and Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal had replaced him and also had presented the Modi 1.0 government’s Interim Budget in February, as Lok Sabha poll is knocking at the door.
After the BJP-led NDA returned to power in May, Jaitley wrote to Prime Minister and requested him not to give him any responsibility in Union Cabinet on account of his ill health.
