Centre proposed the formation of a committee to address the issues of the farmers: Agri Minister Tomar

Due to Covid-19, the government invited the farmers for talks to reach an agreement and stop the protests held by them. Though the meeting between the agriculture minister and farmers’ representatives has ended without any concrete decision being taken, they are likely to meet again for talks. The meeting was held two days before the scheduled meeting on December 3. The Union government cited cold and Covid-19 for the invitation to hold talks immediately.

During the talks, the Centre proposed the formation of a committee to address the issues of the farmers which will comprise of farmers’ representatives as well as government’s. The protests and stalemate at the Delhi-Haryana border have now entered the sixth day with more farmers joining the agitation with their tractors and trolleys.

The borders connecting the national capital remained closed. The Chilla border, Singhu border continue to remain sealed due to protests.
