The Delimitation Commission headed by retired Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai will visit the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir from tomorrow. The team will hold talks with District Election Officers, Deputy Commissioners and political parties at four places including Pahalgam in South Kashmir.
The Delimitation Commission will work to collect information and inputs about the ongoing delimitation process under the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act 2019. During its four-day visit to the Union Territory, the Delimitation Commission will interact with the District Election Officers at Anantnag, Kulgam, Pulwama and Pahalgam Clubs of Shopian districts on July 7.
The commission will interact with the election officials of Srinagar, Ganderbal, Budgam, Bandipora, Baramulla and Kupwara districts on the same day at the Grand Lalit Palace in Srinagar. On July 8, talks will be held with the election officials of Kishtwar, Doda and Ramban districts at the guest house of the Public Works Department.
The Delimitation Commission will interact with the election officials of Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Udhampur, Reasi, Rajouri and Poonch districts at Hotel Radisson Blu, Jammu on July 9.
Anil Salgotra, Joint Chief Electoral Officer of Jammu and Kashmir has directed all the District Election Officers to be present in the meeting.
The Delimitation Commission was constituted in March last year and its tenure has been extended for one more year in March 2021 due to the COVID pandemic.
