Members of the Sikh community stepped up to carry sanitisation work in Jama Masjid ahead of Eid celebrations.

According to reports, the sanitisation work was carried out by the United Sikh group.
An Instagram page named Puranidilliwaley shared pictures with the following details: “United Sikh group contacted masjid committee to sanitise the mosque, to promote universal brotherhood and peace, old delhi known for its ganga jamuni tehzeeb.”
According to the United Sikhs Instagram page, they have been involved in sanitising places of religious gathering across the country.
In a post they wrote, “UNITED SIKHS is continuously disinfecting various places of worship in Guru Nagri Amritsar. Today in association with Shiromani Gatka Akhara, UNITED SIKHS Team Sanitize St. Paul’s Church.”
Delhi government in its lockdown 4.0 guidelines has allowed the markets to open but shops have to follow the odd-even rule to conduct business. The government has also allowed all essential, stand-alone and neighbouring shops to operate.
The observation of Eid-ul-Fitr depends on the sighting of the moon. It marks the conclusion of the holy month of Ramzan, which is a month of fasting and prayer for the Muslim community.
On May 15, the United Sikhs handed over utility kits meant for COVID patients at quarantine centres in Mohali to the Health and Family Welfare Minister, Balbir Singh Sidhu.
The kits comprise toothpaste, toothbrush, mosquito repellent, sanitiser, masks, soap, tissue papers, oil, vitamin-C tablets, biscuits and lemon drink.
