Rapido has announced its bike taxi services in Mumbai becoming the first bike taxi player in Maharashtra. Rapido aims to make first and last-mile connectivity for customers and captains or driver-partners in the city convenient as well as easily accessible. The fares for Rapido in Mumbai will be as low as Rs 6 per kilometer making it the most affordable everyday commute option for the city of Mumbai. Rapido is also giving up to 50 per cent off to customers on the first ride as an introductory offer.
Rapido recently announced several initiatives towards maintaining safety and following guidelines to protect the customer and the Captain, including the innovative Safety back shields for bike taxi rides. The captains are expected to sanitize and clean the seats and all customer accessible areas, post every ride, along with mandatory usage of masks during the entire ride by the Captains and the passengers. The company also introduced new policy support where the company provides free cancellation if Captains or customers are without a mask.
To access Rapido, customers have to download the app, log in to their account, and book a Rapido ride, through their iOS or Android phones.
Aravind Sanka, Co-Founder, Rapido, said, “The pandemic gave us an opportunity. It left almost 8 million daily commuters of Mumbai looking for an alternate mode of travel. As the city builds back from COVID 19, there is a demanding need for an accessible, affordable, and safe everyday commute option. We believe Rapido with its innovative and successful model will be able to address that need.”
He further noted that Rapido plans to provide opportunities to earn to the youth of Mumbai and aims to onboard 2 lakh captains onto Rapido’s bike taxi platform in the next two years.
Rapido introduced the bike-taxi concept in India back in 2015 to address the last mile connectivity gaps that commuters face for their everyday travel. Rapido currently covers almost 100 cities and has over 15 lakh registered Captains or driver-partners.
