“Harini Amarasuriya becomes the new Prime Minister of Sri Lanka.”

Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake dissolved the parliament last night (Tuesday). Immediately afterward, he signed a special gazette notification. According to the notification, parliamentary elections will be held on November 14. The nomination process will begin on October 4, and nomination papers will be accepted until October 11. The first session of the new parliament is scheduled for November 21, following the elections. All political parties have started preparing for the election. Meanwhile, Harini Amarasuriya has been sworn in as the new Prime Minister of Sri Lanka.

Yesterday, 54-year-old leader of the National People’s Power (NPP), Harini Amarasuriya, was sworn in as the new Prime Minister of Sri Lanka. Amarasuriya has been entrusted with the ministries of justice, education, labor, industry, science and technology, health, and investment. She took over from Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena and has become Sri Lanka’s first female Prime Minister.
