Barely after six days of testing positive, Sachin Tendulkar, the former India captain and batting legend, was hospitalized on Friday.
The 47-year-old took to Twitter to announce the development, calling it a precautionary measure. https://twitter.com/sachin_rt/status/1377853111944015873?s=20
As the number of cases increased in Mumbai and Maharashtra, Tendulkar tested positive for the infection on March 27 and has been in home isolation since.
The batting legend, who was a part of India’s historic World Cup victory in 2011, also wished his teammates a happy 10th anniversary.
“Congratulations to all Indians and my teammates on the 10th anniversary of our World Cup victory,” he tweeted.
Apart from Tendulkar, former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan, his elder brother Yusuf, and S Badrinath, who all recently competed in the Road Safety World Series Challenge, have all announced that they have tested positive for COVID-19.
Tendulkar led the Indian team to victory in the veteran’s tournament in Raipur, where spectators were permitted inside the stadiums.
