The central government has constituted 24 parliamentary committees related to various ministries, selecting members from different political parties. BJP leader Radha Mohan Singh has been appointed as the chairperson of the Defence Committee, Bhratruhari Mahtab for Finance, Radha Mohan Das Agarwal for Home Affairs, and Congress leader Shashi Tharoor as the chairperson of the External Affairs Committee. Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, has been made a member of the Defence Committee.
21 members from the Lok Sabha and 10 from the Rajya Sabha have been included.
According to the bulletin issued by the Lok Sabha, BJP leader C.M. Ramesh will chair the Railway Committee, Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav will head the Health and Family Welfare Committee, and Congress leader Digvijay Singh will chair the Education, Women, Child, Youth, and Sports Committee. Additionally, the Commerce Committee will be chaired by Dola Sen, and the Committee on Commerce and Industry will be chaired by Tiruchi Siva. Bhubaneswar Kalita from BJP will lead the Science, Technology, Environment, Forests, and Climate Change Committee, and 11 of the 24 standing committees will be chaired by BJP members. Four committees will be led by BJP allies, while Congress leaders will head four committees. Two committees each will be chaired by MPs from DMK and Trinamool Congress, and one parliamentary standing committee will be chaired by a Samajwadi Party MP. Each committee includes 21 members from the Lok Sabha and 10 from the Rajya Sabha.
Of the 24 department-related standing committees, 11 will be chaired by BJP members, four by BJP allies, four by Congress leaders, two each by DMK and Trinamool Congress MPs, and one by a Samajwadi Party MP. Each committee will consist of 21 members from the Lok Sabha and 10 from the Rajya Sabha.
