Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Maharashtra on Thursday was canceled due to heavy rain conditions. Prime Minister Modi was scheduled to address a public meeting at Pune’s SW College grounds on Thursday evening. He was also set to inaugurate, dedicate, and lay the foundation stone for several projects worth approximately ₹22,600 crore, including the inauguration of Solapur Airport. After the cancellation of his Maharashtra tour, Prime Minister Modi dedicated three “PARAM Rudra” supercomputers worth around ₹130 crore to the nation via video conferencing on Thursday.
It is worth noting that since Wednesday evening, Mumbai has been experiencing continuous rainfall. The five hours of rain claimed four lives. Due to this heavy rain in Mumbai, Thane, and Raigad, the weather department upgraded its alert from Orange to Red. This warning remained in effect until 8:30 AM on Thursday, after which an Orange Alert was issued for the day. Meanwhile, today, high tidal waves and strong winds are sweeping Marine Drive amid the Orange Alert. According to the weather department, the situation is expected to remain similar throughout the month.
