A parcel train carrying masks arrived in Jammu on Friday as part of bringing the essential medical supplies to Jammu and Kashmir.
It is the first such consignment to come by train to Jammu ever since the lockdown was enforced last month.
Other materials, including sanitisers and medicines, are being brought by such trains over the next few days.
“This is the first day of the parcel train which has brought masks, tomorrow medicines and sanitisers will be brought to Jammu,” said an officer who was accompanying the train.
“It is a part of the arrangements being made to bring medicines to J&K,” he said.
The J&K administration has said that there is no scarcity of medicines.
Last week, a consignment of medicines was flown into J&K by an Air Force aircraft.
The administration has said that essential and lifesaving drugs are being received as per the demand and regular supply will follow.
