Jasprit Bumrah has returned to the number one spot in the Test bowling rankings following his outstanding performance in the Test match against Australia played in Perth. In this match, he took eight wickets and was awarded the ‘Player of the Match,’ displacing Kagiso Rabada from the top position. After this victory, Bumrah gained two spots in the rankings, moving up from third to first place. Meanwhile, Australia’s fast bowler Josh Hazlewood slipped from second to third place due to this performance.

Bumrah had first achieved the top position in the Test bowling rankings at the beginning of this year during the home Test series against England. However, he dropped back to third place due to some disappointing performances in the series against Bangladesh. His return to the top spot has created a renewed sense of excitement in Indian cricket.

In the Perth Test, Bumrah was complemented byMohammed Siraj, who also had a spectacular performance by taking five wickets, resulting in an improvement in his ranking. Siraj has now reached 25th place in the Test bowlers’ rankings. Apart from Bumrah, two other key Indian bowlers, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, are situated in fourth and seventh places, respectively, showcasing the strength of India’s bowling attack.

In the batting rankings, England’s seasoned batsman Joe Root remains at the top, while India’s young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal strengthened his position by scoring an impressive 161 runs in the Perth Test. He is now just 78 rating points behind Root. Former Indian captain Virat Kohli also made progress in the rankings with his 30th century, moving up to 13th place.

Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin remain the top two all-rounders in Tests. However, they may face competition from Bangladesh’s new Test captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who has recently advanced in the rankings after an excellent performance against the West Indies and has reached third place. Thus, the ranking battle in international cricket remains competitive and exciting.
