Para-sprinter Preeti Pal makes history, wins second medal at the Paralympics.

Indian para-sprinter Preeti Pal made history late Sunday night by winning a bronze medal in the 200 meters T-35 race. With this achievement, she became the first Indian female athlete to win two medals in track and field events at the Paralympics or Olympics. Preeti completed the race in 30.01 seconds, marking her personal best performance.

Earlier, on Friday, Preeti had won a bronze medal in the women’s T35 100 meters race, clocking a time of 14.21 seconds, which was also her personal best. After winning her second medal at the Paris Paralympics, the para-athlete said, “I tried to give my best, and I’m happy that I won another medal. After winning the medal in the 100 meters, people trolled me, and that motivated me to do even better.”

Previously, Preeti’s dedication and hard work led to her selection for the World Para Athletics Championships 2024, where she excelled by winning bronze medals in both the 100 meters and 200 meters events, securing her quota for the Paris Paralympics.
