Barely days after the launch of the OnePlus 8T, we now have a new leak about its successor, the OnePlus 9. Despite the phone’s launch is potentially months away, information has started coming in about the phone that will look to improve on the OnePlus 8T and in the process also take on the competition that will be provided by next year’s flagships.
Coming courtesy of Twitter user Max J, the leak shows a graphic teaser which reveals that the upcoming device will be codenamed ‘Lemonade’. As it stands, there’s very little which is known about the OnePlus 9, but the teaser poster shared by the tipster does reveal interesting things.
The leaked image shows that the OnePlus 9 could get a flat display on the front, instead of the dual-curved glass edge panel that OnePlus offers on its phones. This will be an interesting move on OnePlus’ part, as it would signal the company is focusing on usability rather than looks.
With the OnePlus codename leaked, it is possible that the phone is closer to launch than we expect and with other phone makers such as Samsung also likely to bring up its launch date, it is possible that the OnePlus 9 could be here sooner than expected.
While we have little information about the OnePlus 9 right now, we expect it to flaunt a better spec sheet and feature set than the current generation OnePlus 8T. To remind our readers, the OnePlus 8T features a 6.55-inch display with support for a high resolution of 2400×1080 pixels and a pixel density of 402ppi. The 20:9 aspect ratio phone is also capable of working at a high refresh rate of 120Hz.
Under the hood, we have the trusted Snapdragon 865 SoC which has been paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR4 RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The core hardware may not be the fastest available right now, but it still looks quite good powerful. As for the software, the phone’s hardware has been paired with a clean copy of Android 11 based Oxygen OS
The OnePlus 8T also comes with a quad-camera set-up with a Sony IMX586 48-megapixel sensor at the heart of it. The lens has an aperture of F/1.7. The lens also supports OIS and EIS. The phone also gets a 16-megapixel ultra-wide lens with a field of view of 123-degrees. There’s also a 5-megapixel macro camera and a 2-megapixel monochrome lens on the device.
