Apple iPhone, like other smartphones, the iPhone tends to warm up when the processor is reaching its threshold to paramount performance. That maay change in the near future. Apple is allegedly working cooling cases for the iPhone using the MagSafe connector that will allow the device to run even faster without getting toasty for a long time. The MagSafe cooling cases will provide heat dissipation and cooling to the iPhone to extract more power from it.
As reported by AppleInsider, Apple has filed a patent called “Smart case for a portable electronic device” with the US Patent and Trademark Office, hinting at a MagSafe accessory that would raise the thermal operating threshold of the iPhone. This is particularly a case where the iPhone will use additional hardware to channelise the heat using electromagnets, hence, reducing the pressure on the phone’s CPU. As a result, the iPhone will be able to run faster while handling high temperatures. The patent shows the MagSafe case will embed magnets that can generate a magnetic field all around the iPhone.
The performance of a device is linked to two hardware components, its processor and its battery. The battery is an integral part of a smartphone, giving it juice for everything that it does, using the processor. But when the device is asked to handle heavy workloads, the processor surpasses its regular limits to reach the point where it can provide the maximum performance output. But while doing so, it puts a great amount of pressure on the battery, thereby, increasing the temperature of the device. This phenomenon is common with all sorts of electronic devices and not just the smartphones.
Apple has not detailed much about how the iPhone processor or battery will handle or detect this new MagSafe accessory and whether users will be able to control some or all of its aspects. This is a patent at this stage, which means that Apple might or might not bring this accessory to the market. But given Apple is placing high hopes on its MagSafe technology for the iPhone 12 series, this case seems possible. Its entire MagSafe accessory lineup is built around the fact that these components can help the iPhone 12 achieve something that creates an individual use case for Apple’s smartphones.
Apple has launched MagSafe chargers, MagSafe Leather Sleeve, and MagSafe mobile cases for the iPhone 12 series. Its recent development for the MagSafe technology is the MagSafe Duo Charger that allows the iPhone and one more device, which could either be the Apple Watch or the AirPods, to charge simultaneously.
