WhatsApp gets new storage tool which enables users to identify and bulk delete content filling their phones

WhatsApp is rolling out a new storage tool that will make it easier for users to identify, review and bulk delete content that may be filling their phone. WhatsApp users often face storage issues with incessant forwarded texts, pictures and videos and the new storage tool aims to help users declutter unnecessary media from the app. WhatsApp already had settings like disabling auto-download and clearing out selective media from chats. Moreover, WhatsApp lets users prevent downloaded pictures and videos from getting saved to the camera roll.

With the new storage tool in place, WhatsApp will offer easy cleanup suggestions. The tool will achieve this by bucketing both large files and media that has been forwarded many times, sorting files by size in descending order, and providing a way to preview files before deleting them. WhatsApp users can also see a preview of media before selecting one or multiple items to delete.

The new storage tools are rolling out to users worldwide this week. When the feature is rolled out, users can make use of it by following the given steps:

Go to Settings > Storage and data > Manage storage

WhatsApp disappearing messages: WhatsApp has announced that it will soon roll out the disappearing messages feature. As the name suggests, this feature will let users send messages that will “disappear” within a week. If users do not access the app or open the chat in seven days, the message sent will disappear. The option of disappearing messages in an individual chat can be enabled by any user. But in a group chat, only admins will be allowed to turn disappearing messages on or off.

WhatsApp also recently rolled out the Mute Forever option. Always Mute option lets users mute chats forever. Earlier, WhatsApp allowed users to mute their groups for eight hours, one week, and one year. To enable the Mut Forever option, users should follow the given steps:

–Open WhatsApp

–Tap on the group you want to mute forever.

— Go to the more options or three dots on the right-hand side.

— Select Mute notifications > Always Mute

Users can also unmute a group if they wish to see the notifications of the group.
