Modi governments’ strong move of making Jammu and Kashmir as Union territories was lauded by the Kashmiri Pandits. Innumerable Kashmiri pundits were seen dancing and distributing sweets after learning about the scrapping of Article. They are now hopeful of returning to their ancestral house in Kashmir.
“Scrapping of Article 370 is a historic decision by the Modi government. The minority community of Kashmiri Pandits will benefit from this move. The people who were forced to leave the Kashmir will finally be able to go back to the valley” said an elated Sumeer Chrungoo, President of Kashmiri Samithi
Another member of the Samiti that now that Article 370 has been scrapped, the terrorism in the region will come to an end. Separatists have been given befitting reply. Now the economy will flourish and Country will reunite. As per data, many Kashmiri Pandits were killed and a large number were forced to flee from the Valley during the 1990s due to the eruption of militancy, following persecution and threats by radical Islamists and terrorists.

Kashmiri Pandits distributed sweets while they were celebrating the Union government’s move to revoke Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), in Lucknow on Monday. Earlier on Monday, the Centre scrapped Article 370 of the Constitution that gave a special status to Jammu and Kashmir and barred people from the rest of the country from buying property there. On Monday, the Home Minister tabled a resolution to this effect, President Ram Nath Kovind came out with a notification — The Constitution (Application to Jammu and Kashmir) Order, 2019 that will come into force immediately. The Centre also converted Jammu and Kashmir into a Union Territory with a legislature, while kept Ladakh as a separate Union Territory without a legislature.
