India’s most wanted man, Hafiz Saeed, the mastermind behind the Mumbai terror attack has been arrested by Pakistan. The Jamat-Ud-Din chief, who had been arrested by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), had been reportedly sent to jail on judicial remand.
The arrest comes days before meeting between US President Donald Trump and Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan.
The Mumbai terror attack master mind will face trials for at least 7 cases against him.
Saeed was produced in the Anti terrorism court in Gujranwala where he was sent for 7 days to prison. On charges of terror funding, CTD has registered cases, Saeed and his three aides were granted pre-arrest bail by an anti-terrorism court in Lahore, which stopped police from arresting them till August 3 in a land grabbing case and setting up a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) seminary over there.
As per reports, as the head of JuD, Saeed had been at the forefront at the Mumbai terror attacks that killed 166 people.

With this Saeed has been declared as the Specially Designated Global Terrorist by the US and carries a $ 10 million reward on him. The arrest has come strategically, barely few days before Pakistani PM makes his maiden visit to meet Trump. Especially it has been repeatedly made clear by the Trump government that Pak should abide its UN Security Council commitments to deny terrorists safe haven and block their access to funds. With Pak’s commitment to the Financial Act Task Force, the Imran Khan government was facing huge pressure to arrest Saeed.
Reacting on this, senior advocate and special public prosecutor of 26/11 case, UjjwalNikam said, “Pakistan is fooling the world that they have arrested him. We have to see how they produce evidences in courts and how efforts are made to convict him. Otherwise it is a drama.”
