Minister for Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar will present the 2019 National Radio Community Awards at the three-day Seventh ‘Community Radio Sammelan’, to be inaugurated here on August 27.
The I&B Ministry said in a release, “The 7th Community Radio Sammelan will be held at B.R. Ambedkar Bhawan between August 27 and August 29 and will witness participation of all operational community radio stations across the country.”
It will also discuss possibilities of programming for raising awareness on sustainable development goals in a better manner. The theme of this year’s meet is ‘Community Radio for SDGs’.

The meeting will discuss various schemes of the central government, like the Jal Shakti Abhiyaan and efforts for disaster risk reduction. “Research, production, broadcasting, dissemination of social welfare messages through social media and content management for community radio stations will also be discussed,” it said.
Javadekar will present awards for achievements in broadcasting development programmes in various genres, including promotion of local culture, most creative and innovative content, and community engagement awards on the second day of the programme on August 28.
