At least five people were killed and two others wounded in a blast in Kabul on Tuesday, the police said.
According to police spokesperson Ferdaus Faramarz, a blast targeting a car carrying doctors took place in the Doghabad section of Police District 7, Xinhua News Agency.
Faramarz reported that the doctors served in Pul-e-Charkhi jail, Afghanistan’s largest prison, where thousands, including militants, are being detained.
The inquiry was ongoing, the representative said.
So far, no party has claimed blame. Tuesday’s development comes after Sunday’s Ministry of the Interior reported that 28 people were killed and 47 others wounded in blasts across the country from December 17-20.
According to the Ministry, a total of 37 suicide bombings and 510 explosions have killed nearly 500 people and wounded more than 1,050 others in Afghanistan over the past three months.
A total of 2,117 civilians were killed and 3,822 wounded from 1 January to 30 September this year, according to a report issued by the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) in October.
