Militants killed in encounter used underground tunnel at International Border for their nefarious activities

An underground tunnel was discovered barely three days after Jaish-e-Mohammad militants were killed in fierce encounter with the Nagrota’s Police in Jammu and Kashmir. The tunnel which was found by the security forces was 150 metres long which had sufficient proof that these killed Jaish- e-Mohammad militants had used it. After the three terrorists were killed, a massive search operation was carried in the area. It was during the search operations that the 150 metre tunnel was unearthed near the International Border which was used by the infiltrators.

“An anti-tunneling drive was carried out after Friday’s Nagrota encounter by 48 Battalion BSF. A 150 metre tunnel, 15-20 feet beneath the ground was found in Ganghith in the Samba sector. The tunnel was discovered during a search operation in the area.”said J&K police.

Besides, SOG and local police Samba also carried out an in-depth search operation in the area.
Mud and wild growth was used as concealer on the tunnel so that nobody could suspect there was any tunnel there. The mouth of the tunnel is strengthened and reinforced by the sandbags with markings of Karachi, Pakistan on them. It is a freshly dug tunnel and appears to be used for the first time. The nearest Pakistan BOPs are Chak Bhura, Rajab Sahid and Asif Sahid.

“Police shared some vital inputs found from the encounter scene with the BSF which after hectic efforts, managed to find the tunnel,” the Director-General of Police (DGP) said.

The detection of the tunnel resulted due to the well-coordinated operation between the BSF, J&K police and Intelligence agencies.
