The last batch of 55 Sikh and Hindu refugees from Afghanistan reached the national capital Delhi. The Ministry of External Affairs had earlier approved e-visas for this “last batch” of refugees.
His arrival here has been facilitated by both the Governments of India and Afghanistan. Sahni had earlier said in a statement here that a special aircraft has been arranged by the Amritsar-based Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee to ferry 17 children, including 38 adults and three infants.
Earlier, in a statement, he said, “We were in constant touch with the Ministry of External Affairs to bring back this last batch, who were stranded there. He said that a program was organized to welcome the refugees at the Gurudwara in West Delhi’s Arjun Nagar. The Sikh refugees thanked the Indian government for their immediate visas and help to reach Delhi.
