Argentina shows interest in buying Tejas

Argentina has shown interest in buying Tejas, a fighter jet made in India. S Jaishankar has welcomed the proposal for a significant expansion in mutual relations.

Jaishankar and Argentine Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero chaired the Joint Commission in Bonus Aires. In the meeting, both sides stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation in the fields of defence, nuclear energy, space pharma, science and technology, yoga, climate change and economic.

Both countries expressed satisfaction at the current status of mutual trade, which stood at US$ 5 trillion in 2021. Thus, India is Argentina’s fourth largest trading partner.

Argentina has shown interest in ‘Made in India’ Tejas fighter jets for its Air Force. Both countries are willing to take this agreement forward.
