Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imram Khan has been charged under the Anti-Terrorism Act. He is accused of threatening a judge and two senior officials while addressing a rally in Islamabad.
Pakistan’s Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said that the government has filed a case against Imran Khan for his provocative speech given in the capital Islamabad on Saturday night.
On Saturday, Imran Khan held a rally of his supporters in Islamabad against the arrest of his Chief of Staff Dr Shahbaz Gill and the alleged torture in police custody. The police and the government have denied the allegations. Islamabad Police has registered a case against Imran Khan under Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act on the complaint of the Magistrate on duty at the rally.
However, Imran Khan has been granted protective bail till August 25. The Pakistani police had leveled terrorism charges against the former prime minister to escalate political tensions in the country.
