Former US President Donald Trump has been found guilty for the first time in a sexual assault case with a magazine columnist. In a two-week trial, the court found Trump guilty of sexual assault, although Trump is not guilty of rape. The court ordered the magazine’s E-Jean Carroll to pay $5 million in damages.
During the trial, Carroll said that Donald Trump sexually assaulted her in a Manhattan dressing room in 1995 or 1996. The trial began on April 25 and Trump was absent during the trial.
E Jean Carroll said in a statement that the world has finally come to know the truth. This is not only her victory but the victory of every woman. Trump spokesman Steven Cheung said the former president would appeal the verdict. This means that they will not pay compensation during the case of challenging the decision in court.
