Amid mounting pressure on Prime Minister Imran Khan from some allies who left the ruling coalition ahead of the no-confidence motion against the government in Pakistan, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry has said that the Prime Minister will not resign.
The country’s parliament – the National Assembly, has a total of 342 members and requires 172 votes for a majority. PTI led by Imran Khan has 155 members.
The opposition parties have the support of 162 members and the three parties that broke away from the ruling coalition during the voting are likely to go along with the opposition. Thus the opposition is expected to cross the majority mark.
