Nepali Congress General Secretary Bishwo Prakash Sharma on Sunday urged Party President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba not to become Prime Minister again. He requested Deuba to step aside for the new generation of leaders. However, former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba rejected his proposal.
Sher Bahadur Deuba is known as the “Prime Minister-in-Waiting” because there was an agreement in the new coalition formed between CPN-UML Chairman and current Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Nepali Congress (NC) President Deuba to alternate as Prime Minister. Recently, Oli said during a public event that he would resign from the top government position after one year and ten months.
In July, CPN-UML leader KP Sharma Oli became the Prime Minister of Nepal under the new coalition government. Oli took over the position with the support of the Nepali Congress, replacing Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda,’ who lost a vote of confidence in the House of Representatives.
