Pakistani Taliban militants captured an anti-terrorist center and took some people hostage in Bannu district of restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan. During this, at least two policemen were killed and many others were injured. The Anti-Terrorism Department had arrested some terrorists and they were being interrogated at the police station. Meanwhile, one of these terrorists snatched AK-47 from the policeman on Sunday and started firing.
Bannu’s District Police Officer (DPO) Mohammad Iqbal said there was no attack from outside and during questioning one of the terrorists snatched a rifle from the police and opened fire on the security personnel deployed in the building, The Express Tribune reported.
“The terrorists have captured the building and we have cordoned off the entire Bannu cantonment area,” he said. Internet services have been suspended in Bannu cantonment. The banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) said in a statement that several of its members were among those who took the Bannu CTD personnel hostage.
